Food For Thought…The Day After Election Day

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, today can be a day for stress. Hop on facebook for a minute or two and you will be inundated with doomsday rhetoric or with self-righteous correctives from those who disagree.

Just know this: How you react today will affect your well-being tomorrow. While we had a vote yesterday, today we have no control over the results. The only thing you can control is your reaction today.

This is not a call to give up and roll over, as if it is all over. Keep fighting for what you believe in, but simply keep focus on the main thing: God is King, and we, as Christians, are called to deny anxiety and to choose peace in God:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:4-7)

If this is not Food for Thought enough, give this article a read. It is a practical warning that if we do not heed the word of God, we will suffer.
